So, you ever been in a situation where there’s this awesome song playing, but you have no clue what it is? That’s where Shazam comes to the rescue! It’s this nifty app that listens to the music around you through your phone’s mic and magically figures out what song it is. It’s like having a music detective in your pocket! And once it cracks the case, it spills all the deets on the song title and artist. Pretty neat, huh? 🎵🔍

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Shazam has its own chart based on how many shazam a song gets. The more people Shazam a song, the higher it climbs on the charts. The Shazam charts have been used as a popularity metric to pre-determine hits by radio and TV stations, and by labels to spot rising talent.

HOW WOULD SHAZAM HELP NCT DREAM ON CHART?

“Shazam has tremendous value in helping radio detect which new songs spark listener intrigue. In a study we conducted in 2016, we found that 73 percent of songs that became Top 10 most Shazamed songs also went on to become Top 10 Hits on the Billboard Hot 100.” – Seth Resler

​It means the more Shazam an NCT Dream’s song gets, the more likely it would be played on radio stations. Radio airplay plays a crucial role in a song’s success on the Billboard Charts. Songs that receive higher airplay are more likely to appear on the charts, as they indicate popularity and listener demand.

You bet! US radio stations are in on the Shazam, with access to data from both home and abroad. And get this—stations worldwide are tuning in to Shazam’s vibes before spinning a track. Some are even cranking out Shazam-powered countdowns! It’s like the world’s biggest music treasure hunt!

HOW DO I GET STARTED WITH SHAZAM?

Android User

  1. Download Shazam on google play store
  2. Open the application
  3. While streaming to NCT Dream’s song, tap or click the Shazam button to identify the song playing around you. When Shazam identifies the song, it’s saved to your Shazam app library.
  4. For android user, you can make multiple Shazam count in each 24 hours period by clearing data after each Shazam for the same song. How to clear data?
    • Once Shazamed, exit the application
    • Tap and hold the app icon until you see a mini pop-up and then go to “App Info”.
    • Tap “Storage” and then “Clear Data”

If you do not clear data, your Shazams of the same song will only counted once per 24 hours. For the process to work continuously, Shazam only when you are not logged in. The Shazam is then counted after you log in.

Apple/iOS Users

  1. Download Shazam on app store
  2. Depending on what version iPhone you have, hold down the button that will call up Siri
  3. Ask Siri, “What song am I listening to?” or “Shazam this song for me”
  4. Siri will scan and bring up the song in the Shazam app
  5. Only one Shazam per song – per day – per Apple device will count

Others Features

You can utilize some features on Shazam to let you do Shazam easier.

  1. On the top left corner of the apps, click “Library”
  2. Click the Gear icon in the top left corner.
  3. Here is few features that you can turn on to make your Shazam easier:

Shazam from notification bar: show a persistent notification to Shazam music in other apps. While opening other apps on your phone (e.g YouTube Music, Instagram, etc) you can tap Shazam from your notification bar. No need to open the apps.
Shazam from Pop-up: Show a floating button to see lyrics and music in other apps. While opening other apps, you can do Shazam by simply clicking on the Shazam floating button.
Auto Shazam : this will allow you to Shazam songs automatically. However only one Shazam counted for each song every 24 hours. Unless you are android user and you clear data.

HOW DO I LISTEN TO SHAZAMED SONGS IN STREAMING APPS?

Apple Music

To connect Shazam to Apple Music, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Shazam app on your device and on the top left corner click “Library”
  2. Click the Gear icon in the top left corner.
  3. Click the connect button for Apple Music and grant access to Apple Music.
  4. After that, the new songs you identify through Shazam will be synced to Apple Music.

Spotify

To connect Shazam to Spotify, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Shazam app on your device and on the top left corner click “Library”
  2. Click the Gear icon in the top left corner.
  3. Click the connect button for Spotify and grant access to Spotify.

To listen to the song that you have Shazamed on Spotify, you can follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Shazam app on your device and on the top left corner click “Library” where you will find all of the song you have Shazamed
  2. Click on the song that you want to listen. You can listen to the preview of the song by clicking on the play button.
  3. To listen to the full song, click “Open Spotify” and you will automatically direct to your Spotify apps
  4. All new Shazams are automatically added to a Spotify playlist called My Shazam Track

NOTE:

  • You can check on the number of Shazam counts by clicking on the song that you have Shazam on Library.
  • Shazam counts are no longer automatically updating, it might takes 30 minutes or even over an hour for your Shazam to be displayed in the count.
  • Just like YouTube views, Shazam count can be freeze but will catch up later. Your Shazams will continue to count as long as you are clearing your data (Android user only) or waiting 1 day in between Shazams.
